About the author

SolarMap is a project by Dawid Rycąbel — filmmaker, photographer and creator of the PINHOLOVE brand. Since 2018 he has been working with pinhole photography and solarigraphy, running workshops for young people and carrying out solarigraphic projects across Poland. In 2020 his first solarigraphic exhibition depicting the city of Złotoryja took place, and his work was presented at the OFFO 2021 Polish Pinhole Photography Festival and the Brzeg Pinhole Photography Festival in 2023. Dawid is the author of the world's first solarigraphic photograph taken on Polaroid film, and the creator of a DIY system for capturing an analemma using the solarigraphic method — his photograph showing three analemmas captured with a pinhole camera over one year above the village of Proboszczów was published by NASA as Astronomy Picture of the Day in July 2022.
