FOMASPEED PAN - New Pinhole Paper
FOMA has introduced a new photographic paper, FOMASPEED PAN, designed primarily for direct exposure in pinhole cameras. The new product was officially presented on September 18, 2026.
FOMASPEED PAN is a black-and-white chlorobromide photographic paper on an RC base, coated with polyethylene on both sides. The manufacturer describes it as a material with very high optical sensitivity - ISO P 1500 (15 ISO S).
The paper is available in normal (N) gradation with a smooth, semi-matte 312 surface. According to FOMA, it produces a neutral to slightly warm image tone and offers a wide range of halftones - from bright whites to deep blacks.
What is most interesting, however, is its intended use. FOMA identifies FOMASPEED PAN as a material suitable for pinhole photography, where the paper is placed directly inside the camera, exposed, and then processed using a positive process.
At the moment, the manufacturer provides only basic information about the new paper. There is not yet enough detailed data to easily translate the stated ISO P 1500 into practical exposure settings for a pinhole camera.
I contacted FOMA directly to request additional technical specifications, information about its practical sensitivity, and recommendations for exposing FOMASPEED PAN in pinhole cameras. If I receive more information, I will update this article.
FOMASPEED PAN is already available in the official FOMA store in 5 × 7", 8 × 10", and 12 × 16" formats.
